European Gold & Bronze!!

Last year was a close call.. Back then, Simon and Perigrosso had to be satisfied with an individual fourth place and a fifth place with the team at the European Junior Championships in Samorin. This year got even better! This time Simon was counting on Vivolta de Gree, with whom he became Belgian Junior Champion two months ago. After their first round, they were in a 22nd place with 3,31 penalty points. A clear round in the second round ensured that they individually climbed to a 6th place while the Belgian Junior team, consisting of Thibault Philippaerts (Cataleya 3), Alexander Housen (Galoubet Fravanca), Thibeau Spits (Jericho DH) and Simon, was already on the road to a silver medal. But medals are only awarded after a third all-deciding round... And the Juniors won this one with force majeure!! With a team total of 14.55 penalty points, our Jumping Devils stayed well ahead of the English and Irish team. The first gold medal was in and that tasted like more...

Although Simon did not say it out loud, we all knew that he definitely wanted to end up on the stage this year. The starting position was good: after three rounds he was on a 7th place but there were two more rounds to be jumped! The fourth round was decided in favor of Simon: with another clear round, he climbed to a 6th place. It became more than clear: everything would depend on the last round. That proved to be a very difficult one, with many combinaties getting in trouble! For Simon and Vivolta it resulted in 4 penalties as well... Fortunately, nothing was lost: the final result of 11.31 penalty points proved more than good enough for European Bronze!
